In the eight years Tedd was head of research at pan-African bank, Ecobank, he was involved in organising and presenting at numerous briefings and strategy meetings at the bank’s headquarters in Lomé (Togo) and in its hubs in Lagos, Accra and Nairobi. He also presented the bank’s macroeconomic outlook at its annual rating agency reviews with Moody’s, Fitch and S&P, and organised and chaired client events in key African markets (e.g. Nigeria, Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana & Kenya). Drawing on this experience, Tedd acts as a facilitator for clients seeking to hold structured strategy discussions and workshops.
One of Kleos’s earliest clients – a trade finance bank with operations across Africa – wanted to review its strategy, focusing on what it did well, what it needed to fix and which new markets and products it should consider. Kleos helped facilitate the process, with Tedd holding brainstorms with the banking teams to develop content and agree the structure of each session, overseeing the process to complete the presentations, acting as chairman on the day and ensuring the sessions flowed smoothly and to schedule, and following up with a report which laid out the key findings and recommendations of the discussions.
More recently, Tedd has been delivering a course on ‘Integrating ESG risk into commodity trade finance’, which he developed with WeESG. The photo below is from this training at Vallis (UK) in January 2023 during one of the breakout group exercises.
